Ensemble Music
We are sorry for any inconvenience but the Mixed Ensemble Series e-Editions, including the Quite Stylish collections, are still in production. We hope they will be available by very soon. Thank you for your patience.
These 7 original pieces, by Rob Willis, are all carefully arranged in easily recognisable styles and offer a fun, interesting introduction to ensemble playing to the inexperienced player. They all come with 5 parts (including alternatives), score and rhythm-section backing track (mp3). As long as parts 1-4 are covered the pieces will work and you can mix and match parts to suit your ensemble. Parts are available for rhythm section (keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums/percussion) so that you don’t have to use the backing track, but these generally require slightly more advanced players.

Let's get funky! A 70s backing in a 12-bar blues format. This is the ideal introduction to playing 'pop' music for young inexperienced players. It also introduces improvisation, though this is not essential.

This infectious cha-cha was originally written for just violins & celli and so will work with only parts 1 & 4. The other parts are simpler but combine well to give a real sense of ensemble. There is no improvisation in this piece but feel free to add some percussion to enhance the dance!

Pulp Fiction meets the Blues Brothers! A 60s TV-detective-style theme with some scope for improvisation. It may be advisable to wear 'shades' for this one - you never know who might be watching. . . the conductor has a special 'role' in this one!

Rock-n-Roll!! A 50s style jive piece with plenty of room for fun! There are 2 versions of the backing track supplied. One is the regular, rhythm section only; the other has a great guitar solo on it! This means there is scope for improvisation but it's not essential. If you use the version with the guitar solo, some or all of the players can do the hand-jive. There is also an optional singing chorus which you could teach to the audience. All in all, great fun!

A lyrical, pop ballad which introduces basic syncopation. No improvisation is this tune but it is very good for slow, melodic, legal playing. The title, by the way, has nothing to do with eating your greens! It comes from musician's slang for a 'Sad Ballad' - now you know!
